31ish Days | Comfort Detox: Broken to Love

One of my favorite songs has a line that fits into my Comfort Detox journey. It’s a Hillsong United favorite titled “Hosanna.” Here’s the part I’ve been thinking of today:

Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like You have loved me
Break my heart for what breaks Yours
Everything I am for Your Kingdom’s cause
As I walk from earth into eternity

Does my heart break for the things that break God’s heart? hmm . . . God’s heart breaks over the pain in this fallen world: injustice, greed, poverty, abuse, pride, death. Those things do bother me, but the bother isn’t to the extent that prompted Jesus to come into our midst and die to free us from the bondage of the Fall.

So this is my prayer, that God would heal and clean my heart, open my eyes to things unseen, show me how to love as He does, and break me. That’s the point of this Comfort Detox—to be broken to be more like Jesus.

What breaks your heart? How is God calling you to be more like Him?
