I’m Running for As Our Own Daughter Premila

Each year, I run one race to raise funds for an organization that’s dear to my heart. This year I’m running for As Our Own to support all the girls I met on my trip to India in 2012. As Our Own has rescued them from certain exploitation and enslavement; now they are in the As Our Own family in India, doing what most young people we know get to do:

They go to school. They play. They dream. They hope.

Thinking about them still takes my breath away. Now I know their names. I’ve heard their heart-dreams. I’ve laughed with them and cried with them. I want them to have every opportunity to become all that God has gifted them to be.

Profile_PremilaSo I’m joining others from my church to run the Champaign Half Marathon next Saturday, April 27. We run in honor of As Our Own daughter Premila, raising funds and awareness for the organization through I WILL RUN. Our team goal is to raise $5,000; my goal is to raise $750.

Would you consider supporting our goal and investing in these girls?

Your gifts will grow them into the adults they dream of becoming. They will learn new languages . . . earn college degrees . . . play beautiful music . . . grow strong through sports . . . and develop skills for the life that has been given back to them through the As Our Own family.

Giving is simple! Donations of any amount are appreciated and are tax deductible. You can give by credit card at my secure fund-raising page OR by a check (made payable to As Our Own and sent to me—message me for my mailing address).

Thanks for considering a gift for these lovely girls!

And if you live in the Bloomington/Normal area, here’s another way you can help! Eat at Avanti’s Monday, April 22, and 20% of all proceeds from your purchase will be donated to our goal if you turn in this flier. Please forward the flier to your Avanti’s-loving friends, and happy eating!
