Facebook has been awash with messages of gratitude this month, which has been a huge heart boost. I’ve enjoyed hearing of things big and small that dear ones are thankful for this year. And it has stirred remembrance in me of all I have in this life (big and small!).
So I made a list of my own. Forty things, big and small, that are on my mind at the moment, filling me with much thanksgiving. Here’s my list, sorted randomly in running text style:
sunshine~mountains~forgiveness~travel~meaningful work~writing~music~health~the Hubster~faith~insurance~laughter~dear friends~working with Spread Truth~writing for Christ and Pop Culture~nieces and nephews~Coffee Nation workdays~family~my iPhone~running~freedom~abundance of food~Lodge Ladies~books~God’s Word~working with As Our Own~my church family~dessert~refinement~my sister~heated car seats~tears~InterWebs~my house~education~Constitution Trail~words~contacts and glasses~writing for True Woman~my laptop
Above and through and in and under all these blessings is the Lord Jesus. He has made my life something worth living and has poured out an abundance of good things to me. My life is not perfect and my heart is often heavy with the weight of my own shortcomings and the brokenness around me, but my hope is in Christ and His promise to overcome all that hinders and hurts in this life. Jeremy Camp sings about that in a song titled “Overcome.” Take a listen via the video below (you can skip the ad after 5 excruciating seconds), and read the beautiful lyrics that follow.
May your Thanksgiving be filled to the full because Jesus overcame.
_________
“Overcome,” by Jeremy Camp
Seated above, enthroned in the Father’s love
Destined to die, poured out for all mankind
God’s only Son, perfect and spotless one
He never sinned but suffered as if He did
All authority, Every victory is Yours
All authority, Every victory is Yours
Savior, worthy of honor and glory
Worthy of all our praise, You overcame
Jesus, awesome in power forever
Awesome and great is Your name, You overcame
Power in hand speaking the Father’s plan
You’re sending us out, light in this broken land
We will overcome by the blood of the Lamb
And the word of our testimony, everyone overcome
