Living Life Fully Awake

Some days, life is a lot to handle.

There is more to do than energy or time to do it with. There is more pain and difficulty than I care for. There is an emotional tumbler spinning my insides-out.

Days like these can force me into autopilot mode—just get to the destination (the end of the day? beyond a stressful situation? nap time? hmmm) with as little effort as possible. It’s like I’ve shut down power to the ancillary internal parts so that all focus can be placed on the task at hand.

It works. I get to the end of the day. I get beyond the stressful situation. I get to nap time. (hooray!)

But it’s like I traveled in a fog. It’s comparable to living life only half awake. And what did I miss along the way? Fog and droopy eyelids obscure my perspective, causing me to miss out on beauty and joy and delight. I miss out on the very thing Jesus came to give me.

I don’t want to miss it. I don’t want to live in the fog, half asleep, just trying to muddle through. I want to be fully alive, fully awake for every moment of this life. Jesus proclaimed: “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

Check out this video by IgniterMedia—it captures my heart today, encouraging me to live life fully awake so I don’t miss a thing. Enjoy!
