Reading Madness Hour 3 (10 a.m.)

By October 9, 2010 culture No Comments

Today’s the day! Welcome to Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-Thon! It starts at 7:00 a.m. CST—the clock has already starting ticking, as it is now close to 11:00 a.m. CST.

Throughout the 24-hour duration, I’ll be reading, posting updates, and participating in reading mini-challenges. I’m starting off today with Creative Prayer by Chris Tiegreen. It’s one I started last month, so started on page 50—should be a quick wrap and a boost of encouragement to have a book complete early on.

Dewey’s hosts have asked the participants to complete and post the following as a means of introducing ourselves to fellow readers. Here goes:

Where are you reading from today?
Bloomington–Normal, Illinois

3 facts about you
I’m a writer.
I love Hello Kitty (that would be my tattoo of choice if I could get beyond the pain and worries of regret).
I’m passionate about giving clean water to the world.

How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?
At least six, with a few others as options.

Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?
I can’t spend the day reading (I want to see my hubby!), but my goal is to stay up all night to read. A friend of mine is joining the madness, so I’ll be at her house for hours 18 to 24.

If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, any advice for people doing this for the first time?
Get snacks. And when you are sleepy, standing to read actually helps.
