Verizon has popped a pride bubble that had formed over my head.
You see, I’ve had the same e-mail address since 2004. That’s the year I set up my in-home office and became the proud owner of a laptop, through which I setup my trusty e-mail address. I’ve not had to send out one of those mass e-mails announcing that my e-mail address was changing . . . until now. Because Verizon has sold out to Frontier, my e-mail address will be changing, which means I am now joining the ranks of folks who are at the mercy of corporate mergers and buyouts, getting shuffled from one e-mail provider to another, with no say whatsoever . . .
But then it dawned on me: I do have a say. I could upgrade my WordPress blog by purchasing a domain, and then register an e-mail address through it. And my e-mail address will never have to change again! yippee!
So that’s exactly what I did. My blog’s primary address will now be www.fillingmypatchofsky.com.
The original address (erinstraza.wordpress.com) will still get you here, but you will be rerouted to the new domain after next week when I switch the primary address. For those of you catching my ramblings through a blog reader or feed, I think you may need to manually update it to the new domain, as I’m not sure it will reroute you there automatically. And you wouldn’t want to miss even one of my posts, now, would you? No, certainly not. That would be plain silly.
Sadly, all this newness also means the 500 business cards I just had printed are headed for the trash. [sigh.] Updated cards are on order.
