Are Donors Jumping to Partner in Your Mission?

Talk about funding issues in the nonprofit realm are relentless. And I get it—every org needs funds to serve others, achieve their mission, and grow their impact.

But some NPs carry that burden differently. Some development teams succeed without the scramble, without the frenzy of doing all the things, urgently, all the time.

I regularly see nonprofit teams fully fund their mission when they are trained and equipped for strategic donor engagement and outreach.

That’s when the energy shifts for teams and the momentum picks up. Seeing my NP clients gain traction is the BEST! Their successes truly change the narrative on donor development.

Let me share how two of my clients have seen donors take giant leaps in their partnership journey.

Success started when these two teams PUT IN THE WORK to clarify their org’s missional narrative and to frame it from the donors’ POV.

With that work in hand, these two teams had their respective key donor meetings… both donors happened to be longtime supporters who supposedly knew the work well. The teams used the new narrative strategy… and BOOM! That hard work paid off.

Donor 1 admitted that before this convo? She wasn’t planning to donate this year. But she was so excited by the new way the team was talking, and it provided such clarity about the programs and impact, SHE WROTE THEM A CHECK ON THE SPOT.

Donor 2 heard the team’s vision and impact goals. And he was so inspired about the clear message for potential impact, HE INCREASED HIS GIFT for this year… plus, he introduced the team to multiple friends as potential new partners.

Here’s the thing:

When donors have clarity about your org’s mission and their role in initiating change as a partner, they jump at the chance to give.

Pretty incredible, isn’t it?!? And this is exactly why I prioritize missional narrative work with my clients.

So tell me… what would it be like if your team was equipped to have clarifying conversations with your donors? If your donors are not jumping at the chance to partner with you, something needs to change STAT.

When your team is equipped for strategic donor engagement, your donors will find your mission irresistibly fundable.
