Your Mindset Is only Step #1

Mindset work is all the rage, and for good reason! How you think affects everything.

The thing is, no one wakes up and declares,

“I am so pumped to be super INEFFECTIVE today!”

No NP team is aiming for INEFFECTIVENESS in their donor engagement work.

>>> But I see it All.The.Time. in the wilds. What gives?

Mindset is important, but it’s just the first step. Here’s what I see in NP orgs:

Ineffectiveness is common when teams aren’t properly equipped.

Now, I’m NOT implying your team isn’t talented or intelligent or hard working. But great people will still struggle if they aren’t equipped to approach donors effectively… i.e., focusing energy on the right activities.

Many teams are doing what’s always been done or what other orgs doing or what they prefer to do instead of what’s needed from the donors’ POV.

Every org will say YES to being effective—in theory. But in practice, it means an org says YES to properly equipping their amazing team to actually BE effective. Taking action is essential.

How is this working for your team? Do you need some help balancing mindset with action?
